Certificates
Undergraduate certificates signify that a student has completed a set of classes
in a specified topic area that is smaller than a major degree program or a minor. A
student completing an undergraduate certificate has the certificate title posted on
their transcript and will receive a printed certificate in addition to their major
diploma upon graduation. The W. A. Franke College of Business has certificate programs
(listed below) for business majors, students who are majoring in fields outside the
college, and graduates who would like to return to school for a specialized certificate
in business. Business majors can use certificates in partial fulfillment of their major
requirements and to:
- Add depth to a major field of study--for example, adding an investments certificate to the finance major.
- Obtain knowledge in more than one functional area of business--for example, adding a certificate in
finance to the marketing major.
- Gain knowledge in an interdisciplinary business field by adding an entrepreneurship or international business certificate to any
business major.
The W. A. Franke College of Business offers certificates in the following areas of study
(effective 2007-2008 catalog year):
Things to Note:
- For each certificate earned, students must complete a minimum of 6
units of coursework that is not being counted anywhere else in their undergraduate curriculum.
- Non-business students may not complete more
than 27 units of FCB coursework.
- Non-business students may pursue available
certificates if they have: 2.75 cumulative grade
point average with at least 30 units earned.
- At least 60% of the coursework for each certificate must be completed through NAU.
- Some courses listed may have additional prerequisites.
- Certificates and requirements are
catalog-year specific. Please refer to your
catalog year or check with the Office of Academic Services, FCB Room 222.
