Executive Job Shadow Program

What is Job Shadowing?

Job shadowing is the opportunity for students to spend 2-3 days with a top level executive in their interest area.  This exposure allows students to witness the work environment and potential career options firsthand. 

Why Be a Shadow?

  • Learn more about a certain career and determine if your career path is the right one.
  • Accompany successful business executives at their workplace.
  • Obtain knowledge that comes only from being in the job setting.
  • Have an opportunity to ask relevant questions.
  • Link textbook knowledge and skills acquired in the classroom and apply them directly to the real world of work.

Student Shadow Responsibilities:

  • Dress appropriately.
  • Prepare for your site visit.
  • Research your executive’s organization and write a summary paper before your visit.
  • Identify the mission of the organization.
  • Arrive on time.
  • Dress appropriately.
  • Discuss your interests with your executive.
  • Prepare a list of questions to ask your mentor and others you might meet.
  • Do not cancel.

Shadow Qualifications:

  • 2.75 cumulative GPA.
  • Acceptance into the Business Professional Program.  Undergraduates only—No MBA students.
  • Interest in learning more about your chosen career field.
