Generous alumni and friends provide scholarships for students in the College of Business Administration. A sample of the scholarships is listed below for your information, and is subject to change (amounts listed are estimates only).

ACCOUNTING AREA ADVISORY COUNCIL ($500) Awarded to accounting majors.

ACCOUNTING AREA ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP (amt. varies) Awarded to accounting majors.

ACCOUNTING AREA FACULTY ($500) Awarded to one or more business students majoring in accounting.

ARIZONA CPA FOUNDATION FOR EDUCATION & RESEARCH ($8,000) Awarded to accounting majors who have excelled in their field.

ANAYA & COMPANY LTD. ($1,000) Awarded to a junior or senor business major (not BAiLS), U.S. citizen, Arizona resident who works a minimum of 20 hours per week and is involved in volunteer activities.

ARIZONA STATE SAVINGS AND CREDIT UNION ($2,000) Awarded to one or more students who have excelled in business administration and university coursework.

CHARLES W. BALDWIN MANAGEMENT (amt. varies) Established in honor of Charles W. Baldwin, a former NAU Administrator and The W. A. Franke College of Business faculty member. Students must be U.S. citizens and management majors.

BANK OF AMERICA ($1,000) Awarded to one or more business students, based on academic achievement and financial need; students must be Arizona residents.

TOM O. BELLWOOD MEMORIAL (amt. varies) Given to a deserving business student on the basis of service to the University, potential for success, and leadership. The Bellwood Scholarship is given in memory of the late Dr. Tom O. Bellwood, former Dean of the College of Business Administration.

FRANK BESNETTE (amt. varies) Awarded in honor of former College of Business dean and faculty member to meritorious Arizona student with financial need.

RALPH M. & MARY E. BILBY MEMORIAL (amt. varies) Given in memory of the late Ralph and Mary Bilby who made invaluable contributions to the University and to the College of Business Administration.

MAC BOSSE CIS SCHOLARSHIP (amt. varies) Established by Doris Patton in honor of Malcolm Bosse, a CIS professor in The W. A. Franke College of Business from 1966-1998. Awarded to one or more deserving CIS undergraduate students.

A. JOHN BRIEL ($1,300) From an NAU Foundation fund established in memory of the late A. John Briel, a member of the business faculty from 1947-1985. Awarded to one or more students who are U.S. citizens and who are eligible for business major status.

NEIL V. CHRISTENSEN MEMORIAL (amt. varies) This NAU Foundation memorial fund was established in memory of the late Neil V. Christensen, a Flagstaff attorney for many years. The annual award goes to a graduate of a Flagstaff high school who has completed at least 30 hours at NAU with a GPA of 3.25 or higher and is a business major.

Tom and Judith Crimmins ($2,000) awarded to Winslow High graduate, full-time student, US citizen, to sophomore original year of award then renewable

CLIFTON GUNDERSON ($1,000) Awarded to two accounting students, junior or above in pursuit of obtaining 150 credit hours, with extracurricular involvement or community service.

COMPUTER INFORMATION SYSTEMS AREA ADVISORY BOARD (amt. varies). Awarded to one or more outstanding students majoring in computer information systems.

COMPUTER INFORMATION SYSTEMS AREA FACULTY ($500) Awarded to one or more outstanding students majoring in computer information systems.

DELOITTE & TOUCHE ($500) Awarded to accounting majors who have excelled in their field.

MICHAEL S. DISHNER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (amt. varies) Given in memory of the late Michael Dishner, a graduate of The W. A. Franke College of Business at NAU, to one or more outstanding accounting majors who have excelled in their field.

JOSEPH F. AND CORINNE J. DOX ($2,000) Awarded to an undergraduate student who was honorably discharged from military service or adversely affected by a family member’s military service (e.g., spouse or parent killed in military action).

JOSEPH C. DOLAN (amt. varies) Establish by Joseph P. Riordan in memory of his grandfather, long-time Flagstaff business man, Joseph C. Dolan. Awarded to a single parent, “non-traditional” student.

JOSEPH F. AND CORINNE J. DOX ($2,000) Awarded to an undergraduate student who was honorably discharged from military service or adversely affected by a family member’s military service (e.g., spouse or parent killed in military action).

BRUCE ECKEL ($600) Awarded to an MBA student with financial need whose undergraduate GPA is at or above the yearly average of the incoming MBA class. Established by MBA alumnus and NAU employee Calvin Eckel in honor of his father.

ECONOMICS AREA FACULTY ($750) Awarded to one or more business students majoring in economics.

EMPIRE SOUTHWEST HONOR ($3,000) Awarded to one or more business students; preference given to Native American students.

LORRAINE ETHINGTON ($1,000) A memorial scholarship to aid a nontraditional student, native-born U.S. citizen, working and supporting a family; based on academic effort; minimum GPA of 2.50.

FEDERATED INSURANCE ($1000) Awarded to a junior or senior with a 3.25 GPA in the business major, involvement/interest in business, finance, or risk management and insurance, evidence of extracurricular involvement (school, community, athletics, arts, etc.).

FINANCE AREA FACULTY ($1000) Awarded to one or more business students majoring in finance.

FINANCIAL EXECUTIVES INTERNATIONAL ($2,000) Awarded to finance and/or accounting student.

LARRY AND BARBARA GARDNER REMEMBRANCE ($1,300) Awarded to accounting majors who have excelled in their field, in memory of the Gardners who contributed much to The W. A. Franke College of Business, NAU, and Flagstaff. The CBA Auditorium is named for the Gardners.

Patrick D. Geddes ($1,000), Awarded to graduate of Bourgade or other Phoenix Catholic high school, sophomore year of initial award, renewable, full-time student, 3.0 GPA

Goodrich Corporation ($1,000) Awarded to students junior year of initial award, renewable, student taking SAP curriculum (CIS major)

MARIE HACHTEL ($1,000) Awarded to junior, senior or graduate business student. Renewable.

LILLIAN HALL ($5,000) Awarded to an outstanding accounting major in honor of Lillian Hall who was Coconino County Treasurer for many years and who continues to be an active member of the Flagstaff community.

VIRGIL HALL MEMORIAL ($5,000) Awarded to an outstanding accounting major in memory of the late Virgil Hall, who did not have the opportunity for a formal education himself, but dedicated his life to helping others attain that goal.

THE HALSTEAD FOUNDATION ($12,600) Awarded to multiple business majors who demonstrate financial need by working or actively seeking work.

Heinfeld Meech & Company ($1,500), accounting major, rising junior, full-time student, US citizen, AZ resident, 3.0 GPA

HENRY & HORNE LLP ($1,000) Awarded to an accounting student entering 4th or 5th year with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

HUNTER HAGAN & COMPANY ($2,000) Awarded to an accounting student entering 4th or 5th year with a minimum 2.0 GPA.

EDWARD AND PEARL JESZKA ($1000) Established by alumna Theresa Jeszka Drew as an honor and tribute to her parents, to provide an enduring scholarship for accounting students.

KPMG PEAT MARWICK ($1,000) Awarded to an accounting major who has excelled in the field.

ELEANOR & DIEDRICH KNUBEL MEMORIAL ($6,000) Established by alumnus Tom Knubel in honor of his parents. Awarded to two business students who qualify for Disability Student Services.

KNUTSON/UMLAND (varies) Awarded to a junior in accountancy or finance with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2; preference given to students with an interest in international business.

SAM LITZLER ($500) Awarded to a business student with financial need and at least a 2.5 GPA.

LOHMAN COMPANY, PLLC (500) Awarded to an accounting junior or senior with a 3.25 minimum GPA.

MARK & ROBERTA MALINSKI ($700) Awarded to a US citizen who is a full-time student.

MANAGEMENT AREA FACULTY ($1,000) Awarded to one or more outstanding students majoring in management.

MARKETING AREA FACULTY ($1,000) Awarded to one or more outstanding students majoring in marketing.

McCord Scholars ($10,000) Awarded to students entering junior or senior year, AZ resident, renewable, maintain 3.6 GPA

McGLADREY & PULLEN ($1,500) Awarded to two accounting students in fifth year in pursuit of 150 hours, interested in public accounting.

MCGOWAN CHARITABLE FUND ($4,700) Awarded to a senior who is not receiving other scholarships (grants and loans are okay), significant involvement in academic, campus and community activities.

J. WILMER MIRANDON ($1,000) In memory of the dedication of "Bill" Mirandon in his efforts to ensure the availability of education support to qualified and deserving students. Awarded to junior-level business students who demonstrate leadership potential; business major status.

DONALD AND PEGGY MURRAY SCHOLARSHIP (varies) Established by Donald and Peggy Murray (Don is a distinguished alumnus of the CBA). Awarded to business students based on need and academic success.

NOGALES HIGH SCHOOL HALL OF FAME ($1,000) Established by alumna Lisa Rojas Bacus for a first year student who graduated from Nogales High School with intention to major in business.

NORTHERN ARIZONA HUMAN RESOURCE ASSOCIATION ($500) given to an undergraduate student with a declared major in management with a human resource emphasis. The second award is given to an MBA student with an interest in Human Resource Management.

DORIS PATTON MBA SCHOLARSHIP (varies) Established by CBA alumni of the MBA program in honor of Doris Patton for her 8 years of outstanding contributions to the success of the MBA program and its students. Awarded to one or more MBA students.

LAVERNE R. PITCHER MEMORIAL ($500) From an NAU Foundation memorial fund established in memory of the late Laverne Pitcher, former Vice President for Financial Affairs at NAU.

REDW BUSINESS AND FINANCIAL ($500) Awarded to one or more Native American accounting majors.

GENNIE RAYNOLDS MEMORIAL ($1,500) Established by retired CBA faculty member Peter Raynolds in honor of his late wife. Awarded to a Native American student with financial need, preferably with an interest in arts or environment.

JOHN RICCA MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (varies) Established by John and Elizabeth White in memory of John Ricca, a distinguished alumnus of The W. A. Franke College of Business Administration who was awarded an honorary doctorate by NAU. Awarded to one or more business students.

EMILY & MIKE SANTELLANES FAMILY ($1,500) Established by alumnus Mike Santellanes for a CBA student with financial need.

WILMA STRICKLIN (amt. varies). Established by alumni to honor former faculty member Wilma Stricklin. Awarded to a sophomore or junior management major.

STUDENT WORKER (varies) Awarded to a student worker for the CBA with a GPA of 2.50 or higher.

EUGENE L. THOMAS MEMORIAL ($1,800) Awarded to Arizona business students based on academic scholarship, in memory of the late Eugene L. Thomas, an ardent supporter of business students and advocate of education at NAU.

JAMES TOYOTA WRESTLING FOR EDUCATION ($1,000) Awarded to a full-time student who wrestled at the varsity level in an Arizona high school, preferably Tucson. Established by alumnus Jim Toyota.

UNITED INDIAN TRADERS ENTREPRENEURIAL SCHOLARSHIP ($4,200) Awarded to business majors who are high school graduates from the Four Corners area, interested in entrepreneurship; based on need and academic excellence.

CHERYL S. WILSON ACCOUNTING ($2,000) Awarded to an accounting major with financial need.

WOMEN’S ENTERPRISE FOUNDATION (amt. varies) Awarded to a female student interested in entrepreneurship.
