Mason Gerety

Mason Gerety has been at Northern Arizona University since 1993, and has served as College of Business dean since 2002. Under his leadership, the College of Business completed a new 111,000 square-foot student focused facility that embodies the college’s mission of “fostering a sense of community.” Additionally, he has significantly increased external relations through active advisory boards and fundraising efforts that have directly enhanced the student educational experience.

Prior to his appointment as dean, Dr. Gerety taught as a member of the finance faculty and served as director of the MBA program and as associate dean for graduate programs. He has published in the Journal of Finance, the Review of Financial Studies, Financial Management, the Financial Analysts Journal, and the Case Research Journal, among others.

Dr. Gerety received an undergraduate degree in economics from the University of New Mexico and master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Washington. Prior to NAU, he taught at Clemson University and the University of Maryland. He was also a senior research economist at the United States Securities and Exchange Commission.
