Program Overview

The NAU MBA program differentiates itself from other MBA Programs in several ways:

Admissions: geared toward identifying and enrolling an academically able, mature, and employable student body.  Initial applicants go through a screening process which produces a list of above average program finalists.  Finalists are invited to interview with the MBA Admissions Committee to determine overall fit, assess oral communication skills, and to learn more about their work history.

Program Size: enrollment is small with high faculty/student ratio to ensure quality and individual attention.

Fully Integrated Core Curriculum: students compliment their functional emphasis by learning within a framework of core classes, team-taught by faculty from a various disciplines.  Integrated classes such as Systems Orientation, Customers, Markets & Organizations, Managing People & Processes, Managerial Decision Making, Control & Innovation, and Individuals & Teams make up the core curriculum.

Communication Skills:  the NAU MBA experience focuses on developing the written and oral communication skills of every student.  During new student orientation, students participate in three skill building seminars: Short-form Business Writing, Long-form Business Writing, and Presentation Skills.  Before classes begin, each students has their admissions essays evaluated and participates in a one-on-one feedback and counseling session with the MBA Communications Coordinator.  Throughout the program, students complete a copious amount of individual and team writing assignments as well as make several team and individual presentations for each class.
