Student Scene
From the Desk of the Associate Dean:
As the academic year winds to a close, it is the season for awards ceremonies and banquets. Even in times of economic uncertainty, we appreciate our faculty, staff and students and want to share a few of the accolades with our valued alumni and friends. This semester, two of our top graduating seniors recently were awarded the Gold Axe Award from the university for quality academics, community service and campus involvement. Elizabeth Brook was recognized as the Distinguished Senior for the FCB.
Student poster presentations ranging from legal analyses of U.S. Supreme Court opinions and BizBlock business plans to economic comparisons of the Obama and FDR administrations and tourism plans were highlighted at the Undergraduate Symposium in the FCB.
As has been reported, 25 students met with financial mogul Warren Buffett and another group of students attended the Redefining Investment Strategy Education conference at the University of Dayton. Still to be announced, each area has selected an outstanding senior who will be recognized at the post-commencement reception on May 9. It is with great appreciation to all faculty, staff and students that we bid 2008-09 farewells and begin to prepare for another exciting academic year.
PHI KAPPA PHI
On April 25th, several students and I had the privilege of being inducted into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, whose motto is, “Let the love of learning rule humanity.”

Alumni Sell Students on Selling
Students in Jennie Mitchell’s Professional Selling class had the opportunity to interact and learn more about business-to-business sales from a number of distinguished College of Business alumni this semester. The visitors fielded questions from students about sales careers and related some of their own selling experiences. One student commented toward the end of the session, “I had no idea you could make so much money in sales and have fun, too!"
