Students Shine in Sales Competition
Colin Nohl (Sr., MGT and Kyle Pearson (Sr., MKT), received awards in the 5th annual Western States Collegiate Sales Competition on April 18. Eighteen students from ASU, CSU-Bakersfield, CSU-Chico, CSU-Fresno and NAU participated in the event. Nohl placed 5th in the overall competition and Pearson was 1st runner up in the ADP category. Both students received plaques and significant monetary awards for their outstanding performances.
The event was hosted by ASU’s Morrison School of Management and sponsored by ADP, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, and Liberty Mutual. Liberty Mutual and ADP trained the students on their products. The students then prepared two 15-minute role plays as representatives of each company. The sales presentations were judged on the opening, mining the buyers’ needs, selling benefits, and closing technique. Nohl and Pearson were coached by Jennie Mitchell, lecturer of marketing. Mitchell teaches Professional Selling, an elective for upper division business students.
